Ignoring potential classics and low volume stuff most cars roughly follow the halve in value every 3 years rule of thumb. Certainly works for Fords, Pugs, GM and the typical high volume stuff. So for the Westie that would be something like £88k new? £44 in three years; £22 when 6 and £11 at 9 - albeit needing adjustment for milage. Even so, I'd say an eight year old one with low milage is doing well enough at £17... Mike - MPx

You cannot judge if £17k is a good price for the Westie without knowing if £28k for the RS6 is the right price. RS6's may be rare and hard to compare. Likelihood is that they're knocking £1k or £2k off the Audi and then plumping up the PX offer, but it's all the same price to change at the end of the day.

I prefer to negotiate the price of the car as if paying cash. And then talk PX. That way you can cherry pick your deal.

I don’t think that it is just L322 prices that are dropping it appears to be all diesel cars with engines larger that 2.5L

I have been looking for a decent 2012 Westie for a while now and have seen their prices drop around £4000 over the last year when comparing like for like vehicles. You only have to look on autotrader to find L405’s with less than 50k miles FSH and a good spec in the late £20k’s.

A few days ago I used CarWow to get a price on a VW Tourag (please don’t judge me!) and was offered 19.7% off the price of a new build car.

With various towns and cities making rumblings about banning diesel vehicles in the near future I think that we will see prices slide more this year....
