How Do I Fix a Loose Boot Catch?

Hi,

I have the facelift 05 FFRR. On the lower boot lid, I can see the catch mechanism which connects with the upper door. I can also see two screws which are loose whcih makes the mechanism mover from side to side and makes it difficult to close the boot properly. I can just about get a finger into the gap and manually tighten the screws from the top, but clearly with insufficient torque!

Can anyone tell me how to remove the top plastic strip and then the carpet backing on the lower boot lid as I can't see any logical way to do it and I don't want to damage anything. That way I can tighten the bolts and once again enjoy trouble free days out......

Thanks

Went to the stealer and asked about this problem. The solution is to remove the bolts (through the existing gap for the lock - don't try to take the plastic off), apply Loctite to them and replace them. I did this a year ago and it solved the problem.
