Thought I would reply to this post instead of starting another.

Had the restricted performance 3 times now over a about 4 weeks.

Today decided to look at the sensor and this is what I found

Sucked out most of the stuff and cleaned the sensor, still under warranty should I take it in as it looks very bad from my limited experience.

Thanks

I bought my FFRR secondhand from a main dealer and had the orange engine light come up within two days. I was told it was an oil leak which had saturated the turbo pressure solenoid and harness. Afterwards I was told the turbo and solenoid had been replaced. That was 18 months ago but just had it happen again recently and another turbo was fitted as well as the solenoid. All done under warranty but worrying none the less. I have been investigating the cost of warranties from LR and was told yesterday that a one year extended warranty would cost £1055 for the warranty or £1255 incl LR Assist. I think the LR Assist is worth it as it gives you priority on loan cars and repairs.

and watch those "needs a new turbo" diagnoses...

the TD/SD V8 can spring an air leak in the intake system and it can throw a restricted mode.

donut hoses, or another leak in the intake system should always be first port of call.

in my case the clip securing the hose between the intercooler and the throttle body gave way. error codes pointed me incorrectly to the turbo.

Another owner yesterday posted a sensor on that same hose was leaking and causing restricted.

. Cheers, Greg

LR diagnosed the problem for me on both occasions so I had no input. The car never seemed to have an issue, just a warning light.

Call me a skeptic but I personally think it’s a revenue approach to diagnosis.....
Turbos aren’t exactly a consumable.
But if it’s warranty then doesn’t affect you too much
(Unless it happens a second time...!) Cheers, Greg

I know exactly what’s causing that (and will continue to cause that, until it’s fixed properly!). Get it fixed under warranty as the full fix will be more expensive than a new turbo!

Pray tell Red Merle. I’ve have had the issue twice and my warranty runs out in March.
