Hi all
I am going to have to renew my air bags on the front struts. The struts themselves are in good condition so I am only going to do the bags.
I know how to do them, but I do want any opinions on the quality of available ones if they have bought them. I can see wide variations in price between differant suppliers/makes. But wondered if there is a make that stands out as better than the rest?

How do you know the shocks are OK? Have they been on the car for 15 years ? .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

Struts are good. They do not need to be replaced.

went through the same drama, started with the airbags from maxxspeed or something like that, didn't work, they were cheap and leaking when arrived, thought I buy something better from Germany...same thing, at least they had the decency to refund me. So I finally did the only intelligent thing and bought the struts and airbags from Island 4X4. Good service and good price. Don't go for cheap!!!

I fitted Arnott Gen 3 airbags to the front of my 2011 4.4TDV8. (my shocks are in good condition)
They were not to hard to fit and came with good instructions.
I found a little bit of surface rust on the struts where the airbags sit so sanded that off and repainted it with a rust proofing primer. it seemed prudent as, in my mind, it would impair the air seal.
They have been spot on since ive fitted them and will replace the rears with Arnott's when the time comes.

That’s good to know, I did see them and also from aerosus. Both based in uk.
Arnott are a bigger name but I wondered if aerosus where a quality product too.

I had aerosus airbags, they were a bad fit and leaked, they reimbursed me the purchase, but not the costs for the garage. They came from germany.

It's easier to change the whole strut , and is a diy job if you can free the bottom bolt mine was seized solid ended up at the garage but if you've got heat room and a scaffold bar you might get it , it's worth getting new drop links as they are a pain to get off and is quicker with an angle grinder rebuild with pots of anti-seize grease

I am afraid I am old school and I don’t beleive in throwing away items that are still fully functional. Taking the bags off is just one more nut and a clip.
As far as the bolts go, I have never had an issue and I have removed many over the years of Range Rover ownership- on my fifth l322.

I have been doing a bit of research on this subject and it appears the cheap bag are leaking at the Lower seals on a regular basis. I have also discovered they use 65mm by 5mm o rings, whereas the factory use 65 by 5.3mm, a number of people have claimed that replacing the 5mm ones by 5.3 or 5.33mm ones has resolved the problem.
So if anyone wants to confirm that....have to be someone who already has a bag as buying one to test the theory is not going to be popular with anyone.....
As it happens I have managed to get hold of a couple of good, claimed, Delphi bags, so after changing seals they will go on...hopefully they are good.....
