I'll take a punt on a loose connection, just to be different. 2006 4.2 SC |

I've been through all this and still not fully resolved. I had the infamous click, replaced the starter 18 months ago. Seemed better for a while but still the occasional click. Just recently replaced the battery and although no more clicks at the moment, the battery is not holding charge under load so next for me is the alternator..... |

The 'battery seems fine but intermittently no reaction other than a click when pressing the starter button' on my 2012 WM was cured by fitting a new starter motor. It seems a very common fault. Note that the old motor goes back to LR for refurbishment and you get a credit for it against the price of the new one (at franchise dealers). Only Range Rovers since 1988 |

A replacement starter (Denso, same as original one) was £260 from site sponsors Opie.
