Hi,

Well all has been well, and tonight on the way back from the station, got a gearbox fault, followed by charging fault and restricted performance.

Turned off, back on. Gear box is fine, but the other 2 came back on. Battery light is on with the 2 warnings. Seems to drive alright though. Alternator or battery or both?

Not had time to mooch round yet, but need to get it fixed asap.

Confirmed the alternator has burned out.. Had to stop at lights when taking the car in and smoke was coming from under the hood, thankfully its not far to go.

They tested and its gone to the RR heaven in the sky.

OK, so the alternator has been replaced, but getting a bad screech on cold startup, and even though it drops off a lot after driving, there is still a small screech after driving for an hour. Could this be that the belts are not back n fully, or that the alt is not set right?

Could be the belts or the idler and or tensioner pulleys.

Have a look at the pulleys on the accessory drive belt and see of the belt is fully on all of them. Has been known to start hanging of by a percentage of its width as the pulley or tensioner wear. Cheers
