Rear windows dropping

Hi All, The rear windows seem to be disconnected from the mechanism and are slowly dropping, I have taken the door card off but can`t see what the problem is. Does anyone have an exploded diagram of the likely problem, or has solved this themselves? TIA David.

May be you've checked, but does the window mechanism operate, even if only to hear it move and not operate the window? Does the window operate at all in any direction, partly or otherwise?

If so it could be the cable in the regulator is loose/damaged or snapped. They are handed for the doors so I don't expect you can swap to check. Cheers

Thanks Stan, But that manual is the clunkiest thing to use ever, spent half an hour trying to get to the right page and gave up.

rjff, the motors run but nothing moves, not even a little.

David

I can't be sure about this. but the manual for the 2010-2012 could have the same info as even JLR may not change the workings of the window gear every year. It's well sorted and could point you in the right direction.

If it runs and nothing moves, the chances are the regulator has a broken cable, I think Confused

Looks like a door card off to investigate I'm afraid. Cheers

On my ‘08 the plastic dammit snapped off that retains the cables and springs. I drilled and tapped some #6-32 holes then screws and washers to retain the cables.

I had to remove the inside plastic window trim, the outside window divider trim, the window, etc. to get the regulator out. Fun. The thing let go less than 24 hours after I brought the truck home. I was standing there next to it when it let go. Sounded like the window shattered. Ordered an eBay window before I dug in to it. It’s in the closet collecting dust.

Regards,
Pat G.
