When it rains, my car she breaks

Good afternoon all, I've been a range rover man for a few years now, followed in my fathers foot steps. I know they are riddled with problems but that's one of the Joy's of owning one.
I do have a little problem with mine at the mo. Had the problem for a few months now, well since around January I think. So mine is a 2006 tdv8 Vogue se. I've had a abs problem in that after a few months I've worked out when it rains, it throws a abs/suspension/transmission fault up. Every time I plug it in with my solus it comes up with near side rear speed sensor. I've replaced it with pattern part and a genuine part and still the same. I carry my solus with me for when the light comes on but it never clears until it stops raining. I've drove down to Amsterdam and back with the lights on and suspension lowered as it says on the dash, rained all the way there and back. When I got back from that trip, as I pulled on my drive and switched it off, the back of the car hit the floor, started it back up, popped straight back up, switched it off, hit the floor again and said it needed brake pads. Plugged it in, the solus said rear near side level sensor and rear brake pads. Ordered both, genuine sensor and fredo pads. Replaced them and since I had I hadn't had a problem and stupidly thought that was the end of it. 5 weeks pass, rained a bit but I've not been driving in it much and if I did it wasn't for long, maybe 20minutes to half hour. Drove through big puddles again no probs. Then yesterday, drove around for a couple of hours in the rain playing taxi for the kids then the dreaded bong, lights and lowered suspension, my heart sunk. Pulled over, got the solus out and sure enough, near side rear sensor and all the modules that talk to each other along the way. Came home, it stayed raining for the afternoon, we went out last night, drove an hour to where was was going and around 20 minutes before we arrived it stopped raining. I got to where was going, parked up for a couple of hours. Got back in the car, no lights, no problem, drove the hour home, no rain, no problem. Been out today, again no rain, no problem. I had a look for a bare cable or something, anything I could see where this water is effecting the car and nothing. I'm stuck and need some guidance, please Big Cry .
I'm not sure if it's rain going down the car or water splashing up thats causng it but it would be lovely to get the bottom of it. Thanks everyone for taking the time to read .

I would try having a look in the height sensor connecting plug / socket
It's possible you have a bad connection, possibly caused by one or more of the pins/sockets corroding.
You could try a good dose of contact cleaner in the plug / socket and see if things improve.
I presume the plug / socket are supposed to be water proof but I somehow doubt they are by now.
If you get everything working again I'd be inclined to wrap the plug / socket in self amalgamating tape to keep the water out.

And welcome to FFRR Thumbs Up

Thanks for your welcome and thanks for thr reply.
When I changed the nsr hight sensor, I did look in the plug and it didn't seem to have anything untoward in there.
Am I looking in the wrong place would you think, even though it says nsr abs sensor on my solus, it could be wiring for the hight sensor?
Many thanks

You appear to have resolved the rear speed sensor problem by replacing the sensor?
I would try unplugging the height sensor a couple of times and then reconnecting and see what happens.
The fault could definitely be the wiring to the plug socket, it not inconceivable the cable has been chaffing on something. The only way to discount it is to have a good look.
As you associate the fault with rain it does seem likely the fault is under the car somewhere.
Sorry to be a bit vague, it is likely to be a protracted case of elimination.

Have you unplugged the ABS socket and checked for corrosion on the spikes? I have a 4.4 V8 petrol and I got every light under the sun. Took it to the stealer who said “really sorry sir, your ABS unit is fubarred and needs replacing. That’ll be £1,000 please.” After I respectfully told him what he could do with his highly flawed synopsis, I took the socket off and found that, due to its design, it sits upside down and catches water!! (You couldn’t make it up!🧐)

A quick clean with a tooth brush and some contact cleaner and it has been right as rain ever since.

Worth a look 👍👻

Thanks for the replys chaps. So just to be clear, I've changed the nsr abs sensor and nsr hight sensor with genuine parts. And when it rains I still get the abs fault on the nsr rear. When it faults my solus shows the nsr abs sensor as not working, as in the live read shows the other 3 sensors displaying the mph and the nsr on 0. Its funny you say about the abs sensor plug positioned in the black box in the inner wing. This afternoon I turned it round so the big rubber elbow on the hub side of the plug was at the bottom and the thin wired end thats in the car facing upwards as I can't see were else water could get to it.

I would put my money on water getting into an electrical connection as previously mentioned. It won't need a lot to cause an issue. Try waterproof grease etc.
