I wanted to update this ( and ask for some advice )

My car has been in to the MD for an 80k Service & MOT, they were also looking at my issues with handling.

They updated a bunch of software and changed the fluids in transfer case & gear box and I have to be honest it's a lot better now. I've also replaced the 2 near side tyres as they had worn really badly on both edges ( which is weird ).

Obvs I didn't have the tyres changed at the MD as I'm not a millonare so had a full 4 wheel alignment performed, which surprised me, that it was pretty much spot on.

So, going forward I just have a couple of issues I need to resolve

1) Crack noice when the lower tailgate is opened - Identified as rusted ball joint...I'm told this isn't covered by warranty and have been quoted £460
2) Power steering pipe/hose has slight seepage which I assume is a simple hose replacement or tightening although the dealer didn't pick this up during the service, it was picked up by the MOT tester
3) During the service the dealer said there was Excessive turbo noise in the cabin , they performed a smoke test but now say they need to take it off and strip it down at an estimated cost of £840 !!! Is the approved warranty pointless on these cars now ?

Any advice on my outstanding issues ? I'm asking other dealers for their quotes and thoughts

Thanks

Si

be a bit wary when dealers start throwing high costs for 'examining' with no cure!

ask them if they found a leak as a result of the smoke test and where? ask to be there when they do the work (they may say some Censored about "you can't due to elf and safety" but insist - Halfords have no problems!!)

As an example, I went to a MD (Main dealer) with lots of ABS and other lights having suddenly come on and they very kindly agreed to take it in and examine. after 40 mins came out and said "well it's good news and bad. First the good - we've found the fault - it's your ABS unit. Now the Bad .... We'll need to replace it and the cost is £1000! Shocked

Rubbish I said. I opened the bonnet and they hadn't even taken off the connector to the ABS (it was still full of water-known design error) There was a single bit of green corrosion on one spike which I cleaned off and everything worked again. faultless since! Bow down

SO don't take anything they say at face value is my advice.
