Strange DPF problem

2011 vogue, keep getting dpf full see handbook, then 5 mins later dpf full visit dealer and limp mode. Car turned off for 1/2 hr and fault gone when restarted. Been to independent several times and no codes other than dpf full. Car then drives fine after 1/2 hr stop .

Been told its my driving thats doing it, do a couple of 2 mile round trips a week then a long drive on weekend using either motorway or a roads

DPF cant be regenerating as drives fine after limp mode so if the car was sooted up from 2 small journeys why is the fault clearing ?

Anyone had anything similar ?

Get it on the M62 when it is pretty quiet.
Set the cruise control to 50-55 mph and keep going for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Then it will be fine for a few weeks or 300 miles or so.

It’s come up with dpf on the motorway multiple times including when I have driving manual at 2500 revs. I don’t think it’s clogged as the dpf full came on even after a terraclean.

Don’t get the revs up, just steady 50-55 mph in D is the best way to get a good regen.

I have tried it every way to regen, I don't think the dpf is full but something is saying it i, garage did a forced regen yet dpf full days later

You need to get an analyser on it and watch what is happening.
I use a GAP iid , like most other owners on here.
In live values you can watch the exhaust temperature sensors and the soot build up in grams as you drive along.

Been done apparently, garage have had it for about 6 weeks of the 4 months I have owned it

Needs a proper investigation...might have an boost leak or EGR probe faulty etc etc.
Take it to JAS in York or Green Oval in Leeds. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Thanks, have spoken to Joe at Jas, currently the independent where I bought it from is trying I fix it, they have checked for leaks. Currently I’m told it’s my fault for only doing 2 short journeys in a week then a long drive which I disagree with

Hi,
here in the german forum we had a similar case,
in the end it had turned out that it was the
"Differential pressure sensor"... this error was not timed, only DPF full ....
Car was a 2012er TDV4.4 MY12

Thanks I have read pages and pages on dof’s bit none seem to cover the fault in having and the fact I’m told driving 4 x 1 mile journeys will soot up the dpf and make the car go into limp

You really need an IID to monitor soot as mentioned.

I do a lot of short journeys: 2 mile commute in London traffic, sits there all day and with a cold engine by evening, I do the return two miles.

I get 160-200 mile range between regenerations.
I monitor it on the odometer for a rough idea and using my IIDTool for more precise readings and it helps me know when I need to get it on an A or M road.

Above 17-18 grams of soot you should take it on a run.
Use cruise control and you can sit on 50mph as Baltic Blue mentioned you don't need revs.
Just a constant speed.

The regeneration should take the soot down to below 5 grams.

Once you have an IID you will be able to see
- actual soot level
- when the regenerations are happening
- if the regens are being completed properly (i.e. lowering the soot to below 5g)

Only then can you understand if you do have an issue or not, despite your advice.
