I have fitted 2 of these, and about to change again even though I have only done 3k miles since last change, but a lot of local short trips.

I also use the Mahle filters on my 3.6 TDV8

As someone who wrecked a Kawasaki bike engine in the 1980's as the result of a failed cheap oil filter, I struggle to see why anyone would contemplate fitting anything other than a Land Rover oil filter?
My experience may have made me paranoid but it also taught me the importance of the lubrication system, the cost of the "proper" oils and filters is a drop in the ocean of total ownership costs.

Weird that, just ordered a gen filter from Dan. Was a fomoco filter made by Mann. So it looks like Mann do 2 different filters for the car!! As it doesn’t look like the Mann Nino_nino has, Wells amen save for the cord round the outside. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

What I don't understand is this: -

Why, if these fit, would MANN not claim that on their own website? surely they're missing a trick? Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I did mine yesterday and the cage stayed in the filter case? so should pull out easily look at your new filter you will see that there is nothing to hold it. just `O` ring

I assume the filter pulled out and left the cage inside the casing ? Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Mike.

That Mahle one has a raised area on the end compared to the Genuine one...??

For reference, scroll right down too see 3 different ones: Hengst, Genuine and Mahle

Rob,
The inside of the filter housing has a spring tensioner that pushes against the filter, and the Mahle fits perfectly .
