Can you not see how much of the friction pad is left through the gaps in the wheels?

At the 2 year service I was told the same thing, just under 30,000 miles. Told them I would deal with it. Ordered front and rear sets from Dan at Duckworth. Took wheels off and decided neither were due. 6 months latter changed rears. When it went in for the 3 year service I had not done the fronts and waited for the expected phone call but it never came and all was reported as fine. Amazing.

21k sounds low to me, I think my last 322 was on the original pads when traded in at 56,000 miles, though I am not hard on brakes.

obviously without seeing them it is hard to say if they "need" doing or not. Be aware though that changing pads (and disks) is bread and butter stuff to a main dealer who will try and convince you that they need doing as early as possible despite there being plenty of meat left on the pads. they will of course scare you with "its for safety sir".

Pretty much what I thought. I will have someone else check them just to be sure.
