And you won't get speed cams on the satnav in that either as no LR system can cope with speed cam info 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Is this just LR being behind the times, a technical limitation, or LR not have fully identified a way to update/ charge for th new data.
As the new satnavs are not disc based, and POIs are user programable I am sure there is a way to upload data, for fixed cams at least.
Some clever person needs to get to work on this.
Dealer (for what they're worth) told me that there is no current update/upgrade program in place that they are aware of for new maps either.
I find that slightly implausible, but then again........ Gerry

Australia 2008 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Rimini Red

Denso make the Nav units and Navteq make the maps and quite a few manafacutrers buy in this solution so it's not such a unique problem.
Maybe if we stuck really small stickers of speed cameras on the disc in the right place that would work Whistle 2008 MY Supercharged

its the average FFRR owner having the knowledge of 'how' to put the speedcams onto the sat nav..tomtom and garmin are easy cos you just connect the unit to the pc/laptop and download, how do you do that with the RR unit?..the only way i can think of is to copy the speedcams onto a cd disc and load them via the dvd unit as a kinda firmware flash....but could this be to technical for the average driver. ... - .- -.

And the latest models have no disc, not sure they have a hardrive or solid state memory that is updated? Gerry

More recent cars also have a USB reader in the centre cubby that might be useful as that is also read by the head unit.

Possibly one reason for LR not wanting to put Speed Cam info on is a legal one - they could be seen to be encouraging speeding and in this day of customers suing at the drop of a hat there is always the chance of being sued by somebody who has been caught speeding and claiming their system didn't alert them to there being cams in their location. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

wouldn't be a legal reason because tomtom actively promote downloading [at a price] speedcam data and for many countries i any add... ... - .- -.

not sure, dealer suggested it was a hardrive, but that could be a guess as he also stated there was no current upgrate/update path defined.

i assume that a connector exists somewhere to upload the data.

*off topic*

WRT the USB connector, I asked if this could be used for video, and was told that port is read for MP3 data only. again smells of BS and a lack of tech knowledge from the dealer. maybe not as standard, but the head unit can clearly decode a video signal.

I do not have the rear entertainment system in my car, but as the head unit has a "dvd" button on i assume also i could add an aftermarket player to feed the head unit. (not sure if this would need a new/ additional wiring loom?)
to all intents and purposes the digital TV is useless, and I feel that as such the dual view screen i have is just a gimmick. would love to be able to send a video signal to it to at least then serve a purpose Gerry
