The Naim Bentley system has been reviewed well by the hi-fi people; as has the B&O system in newer Aston Martins.

The Bose Porsche system in 911s is actually very good.

they have 'sold' their audio name to a prestige auto marque - most drivers probably listen to radio 4 (i do!)

But that isn't the same as 'you have to ask why the BIG NAMES in audio have NEVER ventured into car systems.

I agree though; I also don't think that a car is the optimal pace for quality hifi. But as long as the car and Audio companies 'emperors new clothes' enough speakers and acronyms in, it's enough to convince those who have an extra £1300 that they're hearing 'better' sound

So here's what I'm gonna do:

When the wife and I get home on friday having picked up the new RR, I'll take my hifi out of my 'listening room' and set it up in the car. And see how it sounds.

Am thinking that'd be something that would deffo flatten the battery.

BTW do Linn do a car cigarette lighter power lead?

Oh I'd agree with that too. But I suspect they're slightly better than a RR wafting around.

AND a lot of the hifi 'emperors new clothes' rubbish is subjective or down to preference(imo) anyway.

So I'm also up for the fact that _some_ people might _prefer_ automotive hifi to their home systems.

Guess it depends what hifi they have at home (and what 'quality' listening space they have).

Agree to a point but you'd be surprised how hard it is to convince people to allocate some budget to their AV environment who are willing to spend £100s of thousands on equipment and baulk at a couple of £k on wall coverings etc...

Getting back on to topic though, I have found the RR setup much better than BMW (mainly on account of someone introducing LR to Bass which BMW still have yet to experience).
