EAS issue

Right, I cannot connect to the air suspension ECU nor the airbag ECU.

I can talk to the instrument cluster, ABS, engine, gearbox, transfer box, parking sensors, steering angle sensor.

The ABS ECU has the air suspension can error stored. I have done countless hours of research on forums and am totally stumped. I find it hard to believe the can bus is down as I can talk to ECU’s. I also scoped the can bus and it seems to be fine. I scoped the K bus and I’m not sure if it’s ok or not. I have tried disconnecting every ECU connected to the K bus and it has no effect. Only module I didn’t disconnect was the LCM but this appears to be on the I BUS.

Does the EAS ECU talk to the diagnostics via can bus or k bus? Whats the chances of an air bag module fault which doesn’t illuminate the light on the dash ie it goes off normally? I’m really pulling my hair out I’ve this now!

Have you tried the battery disconnection procedure, along with the touching of the two terminal cables ?

What diagnostic equipment are you using ? .

Yes I’ve tried that. The consensus seems to be it doesn’t cure a hard fault though.

I’m using a Snap On Verus.

Was thinking more about getting the EAS to a state where it was happy to be read by the diagnostics instead of ignoring it. You are correct is will probably not solve a hard fault (has been known, but rare).

If the error is stored in the ABS ecu, clear that, that is caused by daisychaining from the EAS and there may also be one in the LCM ecu, clear that too. .

The fault won’t clear from the ABS ECU Sad

Have you checked all the wires / connections to the OBD port ? .

Won’t clesr at all.

I’ve tested the wiring continuity from the OBD socket to the cluster, and cluster to the EAS. All checked out.

Just checked wiring diagram again, I’m certain I tested every wire at the socket but will do it again.

The common denominator between the EAS and airbag ECU is the K line.

Have you ever been able to read the EAS ecu / codes with your Solus ? .

I only bought the car a few weeks ago with this fault. That’s why I took it to a landrover specialist to see if they could access the codes.

and they couldn't access the EAS codes ? What diagnostic kit/software were they using ? .

Really going nuts here now!

Apart from dismantling the car to pieces or setting fire to it i think im about done with this L322.

So a recap. TD6, 2002. Cant access Airbag nor Air suspension ECU's. Air suspension inactive but as i cant access the ECU i cant read the faults. Tried two different landy specialists both with different kit. Both confirm they cant access it either!

So the electrical bits which didnt work on the car is:
Headlight wipers,
Rear Wiper,
Rear Washer,
Memory seat function,
Column lock,

I did the rear pads a couple of weeks ago. Broke pad wire. Ordered new one but the second i turned it on with the pad wire broken it put quite obviously the pad light on but also the air bag warning light?! So replaced pad wire and pad light is now out but airbag light is still on! Guess what, i cant read code as i cant access the bloody ECU!!!!!

So as a final stab in the dark ive tried a replacement BCM. I think the BCM is the general module and may have been causing issues. As a matter of fact after fitting it the memory seat function now works! However i STILL cannot access the airbag or Air Suspension ECU. Short of ripping the centre console out to get to the airbag one im out of ideas.

Ive checked continuity on all canbus and k bus wires as far as possible between air suspension and cluster. Ive scoped the canbus and K bus and after consultation and studying documents on the internet both appear to be working.
Ive tried replacement EAS, ABS ECU's. Ive tried unplugging just about every other ECU i can on the car except the airbag one.

Is ANYONE on here in Wisbech or say 50 mile radius i can drive to so we can try my EAS in your car to check it works? I can run my diagnostics on it and see what the faults were. If i can just get the dam Air Suspension to work it would be great!

Have you disconnected the LCM? If not, try it and then check if you can access the EAS and Airbag modules.
