Problem is still there and without the engine cover on I reckon I can hear a whooshing on acceleration along with a P006A Manifold Pressure fault so suspect a leak in a hose.

Couldn't hear anything with the bonnet up and revving engine but maybe that doesn't create enough load to spin up the turbo properly.

Are the intake rubbers and intercooler hoses a LR only part or are there other suppliers?

Cheers,

I made my own intake hoses from 70mm ID black silicone hose - each 55mm long. I re-used the original clamps.

Awesome, thanks Graeme, just ordered some up so I can fit over the weekend. Even if it isn't the boots leaking the FF has done 90k now so going to go soon anyway Laughing

Dirty black soot is usually found near the split.
If you wipe them over with a piece of clean kitchen paper roll, you might find the leak.

I had a split in one of mine a couple of weeks ago, exactly the same issue and the split was right under the jubilee clip. I 'tweeked' the jubilee clip and managed to get her going again for another week until I could get the part. (low revs with minimal boost).

I got Britpart replacement parts, much thicker braided type rubber that appear far more durable than the original LR Part.

As I was replacing one, I figured I would replace all four whilst I had it apart. Took about an hour and a half all told.

Good tip Mike - I will try that.

I think it is probably a hose rather than the CSOV as it is now happening at low revs. Had to nurse it back round the M25 last night as it was OK at 70 if on light throttle but as soon as you tried to accelerate it popped the error Rolling Eyes

Had the IID in and was resetting the fault code evry so often Laughing

So, silicon tube arrives today so I will get under the hood with some kitchen towel and see what I can find!

@westminster_bri it might be worth linking to where you found the Britpart replacements for anyone else thats looking, I looked on the ususal suspects and couldn't find any Question

I'm assuming we are talking about the same parts here...

@DrRob - those are for a 3.6 not 4.4 unfortunately Smile

@Westminster_Bri - those look like the right part for a 4.4, would require 4 off Thumbs Up

Silicon 70mm x57mm couplers are available on eBay,
Sorry can’t seem to attach a direct link, but just search 70mm silicon hose.

So had a go at this this arvo, still couldn't see a leak anywhere even with the wife revving the engine with me under the hood so bit the bullet and took of the inlet mainfold.

And hey presto, think this might be the culprit Razz

Offside rear boot split underneath. The opposite one wasn't split but there was a fair bit of soot on the pipes underneath so might have been leaking as well. As Baltic Blue said, once you are near the split its pretty obvious as its covered in soot/oil residue Shocked

So I ended up ordering a 1m length of 70mm ID silicon mainly as I had to do it quickly whilst at work yesterday and didn't have time to check lengths etc, otherwise those couplers would probably have been ideal.

But a 1m length was only £34 with next day delivery so pretty good really compared to £25 a pop for the Britpart ones and goodness knows how much for LR Surprised

So, quickly cut 4 lengths (tip: if you use one of the jubilee clips it makes a great guide on where to cut the silicone so you get the cut kinda square Thumbs Up )

Then fitted and replaced inlet mainfold

Just been for a quick blast and everything is back to normal (or better actually, reckon I was loosing some boost for a while with that split).

Now just have to track down the oil leak - the smell drives me mad but its not enought to be obvious - done all the normal o-rings and oil filter housing seals, oh and just got a transmission filter and fluid kit so that needs doing as well Rolling Eyes

Still, at least its running "proper" now Laughing
