Just looking at a cheap (£4495), high mile 2008 3.6 TDV8.

2 owner

220000 Motorway Miles With Full Service History Serviced @ 14k 29k 45k 60k 76k 92k 112k 119k 125k 138k 150k 161k 180k 205k & 218k

MOT history check looks fairly OK but just wondering if any other owners with high miles had any problems

Just thought it would be great for taking the dogs out in to the countryside

Thanks for the replies so far. I think with it being a mile muncher it would have had all the oils done. Probably if the servicing was done by a good independent it would be more appealing. Some of the reviews about main dealers has been quite off putting, seems that most of them are just 'box tickers' although I may being some main agents a disservice. I’d say main agents are in the middle - they have a fixed checklist
The best of the independents go over and above - the worst will just do an oil & filter every service......

I wouldn’t call it a good service history.

I think the 2008 had 6000mile service intervals. Although the later 2010 3.6 went to 12 or 13k mile intervals. ______________________________

My 2007 had 12 mth service intervals or when ever the 'puter said to get it done, Friend has a 240,000 mile 3.6 and it just keeps moving on. I had my 3.6 from new for 12 years and just serviced it- never needed anything else. But that's just my experience.

Thanks Rogerisleofman, good info. I think it's going to be a case of having the RR inspected by a local indi' and then see what their opinion is on the condition underneath which is their territory. (saw that opinion in an earlier thread about a high miler 2010 AB)

I would'nt recommend it. I bought mine with 160k miles on the clock.
The 3.6 is still running strong, but it seems everything else is falling apart.
I've got a reconditioned gearbox in the garage, as mine is slowly falling apart (mainly the TC), just removed rust for £5k, rack and pinion just starte making a "replace me" noise, door latch mech on the drivers side is faulty, ignition barrel is rattly/loose, the big subframe bushes are failing, brake calipers have been reconditioned, track rod ends replaced etc..

All this since october.

The diesel likes high miles (long trips), but the rest of the car does not.

Buy a low mile car, replace the turbos and block EGR -> enjoy. 2007 L322 3.6 TDV8 Stornoway

I tend to agree with T.H’s comments above.

The 3.6 motors are nice and with 6k mike oil changes will outrun the rest of the car. Overall the 2008 L322 and later is a pretty well sorted car.

But big ticket items like a new transmission, transfer box, air con, turbos, alternator and intercooler can quickly cancel out the savings made by getting a high miler.

I also bought a high miler with 230,000km or about 140,000 miles. While I don’t regret the purchase, the cost of many of the above items has taken the shine off the purchase.

It’s currently up on blocks again for a couple of months, as the aircon died and AC clutch wheel took out the trans cooler line. I may be replacing the transmission for a 2nd time. ______________________________
