From what I've read they can read codes and reset lights etc on any rr but certain jobs are coded to one car with a license . Things like ecu flashing and security items I'd imagine . You can buy another license to make these features work on another car if you buy second hand etc |

At which point do they become locked to VIN - when a new one is first plugged in, or when you first try to do a "restricted" function? |

OK, thanks. Was just wondering if I could use one as part of the inspection of prospective car purchases (just reading codes), then lock it to whatever I buy. VCDS on VW/Audi cars allows this; it warns you that the activity you are about to do will use one of your VIN licenses. |
