Double sided tape for bonnet lettering.

I'm thinking of removing the bonnet and tailgate lettering to refresh by painting.
Can anyone who has done this recommended a suitable double sided tape to refit the letters please.

New letter aren't expensive if bought from the likes of powerful uk, etc and you get template etc to make job easier. 2015 4.4 AB

I would say that the lettering template is invaluable. If I didn't have one, I'd probably buy a new set of letters which come with adhesive on the back as well as the letter spacing template.

Once you have the template, I've removed letters and affixed them back on using 3M double sided automotive moulding tape, just like in this video:

The 3M tape is good stuff (as long as you prep things right, which I am sure you will !)
Have used it to stick various items to the outside of cars and none came unstuck.
Cut pieces just smaller than the width of the letters .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Thanks gents. Thumbs Up
The idea of new letters is very tempting albeit they are silver not Brunel grey.
If I do decide to refurb will use 3m auto, just a pity you can't buy it 5mm wide.
Template shouldn't be a problem with the letters in place at the moment.

So you can, ordered a roll to see what it's like. My only reservation about buying on eBay is whether or not the product is genuine or a copy.
Having said that sticking letters is not exactly an onerous task.
Thanks Thumbs Up

The tape arrived yesterday and did the job beautifully. I can only conclude the tape the trim came with from Powerful UK is cheap rubbish as this genuine 3m stuff is really good. Current: FF Westminster money pit

Why not buy new badges and have them painted before installing them?

I always use adhesion promoter (3M Primer 94) with double sided tape or vinyl wrap. it greatly increases bond strength. Thumbs Up 2012 TDV8 Black Edition

New silver letters went into my 3.6 with a template. Can vouch for proper 3m tape tho, stick Go Pros to my ski hat with it and they never come off....even after big Crashes. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

The problem about tapes are their thickness.
Some tapes are thick for genuine letters.
I think 0.8mm or less is needed others will make letters sit high.
I ordered black ones but they were taped wrong and useless 2010 3.6tdv8 180k km.
