Ireland 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Zermatt Silver

I live half way up an Irish mountain with 3 miles of lanes with grass gowing in the middle and ditches and stone walls either side frequented by tractors pulling various trailers. Its why I dont yet own a L405.
I dont even wash it anymore. Well maybe twice a year. She gets used for family trips, pulling trailers full of equipment and horse boxes across muddy field and it does it all with ease and serenity.
I cant think of another car that could come close to managing as well as a fatty in those varying roles.
Ive had many Jags and the ride is every bit as good and just as nice to sit in. There is nothing like a fatty.
When its time to replace her it will be another fatty but there is plenty of life left.
To the OP , just buy one. They are brilliant Thumbs Up 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

Just scratch your itch. They are a lovely, stately, imposing, capable and classy car. Running costs for a good one will be similar to your S class.

Find yourself an independent specialist if you don't do your own maintenance. Dealers are very expensive.

If you can buy with a warranty, all the better.

There's various preventative maintenance measures you can do with a search on here which will give you peace of mind. __

Wih the greatest respect to any other driver , range rovers are easier to drive and park than most ' normal' cars. The driving position negates any perceived size and be it a L322 or L405 , if you have trouble with narrow lanes i would respectfully suggest the issue is not with the RR. my CLS320 was a nightmare to judge due to low seat height, the same journey in an RR is much easier. Again im not casting aspersions on anyones driving ability on this forum ( well maybe one but he comes across and a class A berk in most of his posts anyway) but these are a great machine.

I drove a fellow members L322 4.4 tdv8 today after he had a Quantum 'Red' map installed and it flew !!!! I had the blue on my 4.4 but will be getting the Red on my SDV8 in the next week or so.

To the OP , scratch the itch and buy one , make sure its a V8 and you will enjoy every journey Thumbs Up 2015 4.4 AB

Agree with that. These are easier to drive than any saloon or GT I've ever driven. Very precise compared to previous RR too.

I've done 16 hours of driving in a day and been more awake than my passengers at the end of it! __

Just because you use the word "respectfully" doesnt make your comment any less obnoxious!
I felt it wise to put my opinion on here as not only an owner, but one that actually didnt feel the love that so many of you do.

Sometimes the perception is better than reality, that all i am saying, and as for your obvious "dig" at others driving ability, there are many things i could say, but as the better man....i wont.

It wasn't an attempt to make it less obnoxious or any other term you interpret as. It was a statement and i added 'respectfully ' because some people don't take some comments well. Also it wasn't a dig, it was very clear , some people stuggle with some driving situations and some don't, i hope thats clearer for you. Maybe your interpretation of my very clear comments say more about your preconceptions but whatever and please don't hold back any comments to protect my feelings , i can simply ignore them if they are hurtful Big Cry just as an aside , the person i was mentioning was not yourself as i dont think i have ever seen a post from you but again you interpret it the way you feel is best for you. 2015 4.4 AB

I did assume that i wasnt the person....as i havent been on the forum, or an owner for very long.

My personal issue with the L322 has nothing to do with my driving ability, more that, now i have owned one, it made me realise that i prefer vehicles that involve the driver, give feedback and can handle. I didnt think that these things mattered as much, but having now owned one, they just arent for me.... I really wish i felt differently about the fullfat experience as i have loved them ever since i sat in a classic at a car show when i was a kid.
Maybe the L405 is better, but those are far far beyond my available price point, so for now i will retreat back to fast estate land Wink

Hi , glad you realised it wasn't yourself i was alluding to and apologies if i caused offence, it was certainty not my intention, the l405 does handle a bit better and as i say i drove another forum members 4.4 tdv8 today and he drove my l405 and i believe we both agreed that the L405 had less roll and a more secure feeling from the front into corners. I love cars that handle and my last sports car was a 450 hp imprezza witb anti lag ,cenrtal adjustable diff etc ,etc . Im 53 now and get my spees thrills from superbikes. My point was the driving position of an RR ( imho) gives a much better overall view particularly on tight roads. I concede my chooce of language couldb have been better bit im not the sharpest tool in the box so again , apologies. 2015 4.4 AB

Teemyob: Your first post sums me up to a tee [excuse the pun] as I'm exactly in the same boat as you.
I'm wanting to change my '05 X5 3.0d [totally totally reliable for the 5 years I've had her & won't have a bad word said against her] for a 2010-2012 FFRR in a rather limited colour spec.
My heart said FFRR....my head said X5 40d.........and.............up until last weekend I was trawling all the usual websites for a one/two owner X5 40d [313bhp] as I couldn't get the 'unreliability, problematic, rust ridden' comments from people I know, both in the trade & out.
But, reading on here & delving into peoples threads, experiences........guess what............we're back on the FFRR 4.4 tdv8 trail once again & I think this time, both the 'head & heart' are in unison! Laughing

Now the bigger task, finding a one/two owner Stornaway Grey/Ipanema Silver with Ivory interior with a fsh oh, and affordable! Laughing

I think the FFRR's are a really nice drive regarding power and comfort etc.
However, they are in my opinion, extremely poorly built, expensive cars and are also amongst the most thirsty made.
Compared to the likes of MB, the build quality and reliability is very poor. They lose money like a lead weight.

But, they are nice to drive.

Mid nineties MB? I think even modern MB isn't at the level one would expect..

I don't think the RR is THAT bad. It has the typical Land Rover foibles and poor finish and lacks a little 'designed in' quality; but underneath things seem well engineered and pretty solid. German cars are good (I'd owned Porsches for long enough) but they're not infallible, either.

"Extremely poorly built" Shocked is not only harsh but wholely inaccurate. Mine is nearly 13 years old going up and down rough lanes everyday and it doesnt have a single knock, squeek or rattle. It regularly pulls 2 or 3 ton trailers and just gets on with it without drama or fuss.
It recently pulled a 7.5t lorry out of a muddy field.
An " extremely poorly built" car would surely have given up by now.
Ironically, the most unreliable fatty's had BMW electrics and engines. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal
