Good evening all. Been browsing for a while as I was researching the technical aspects of RR ownership and just signed up.

I have a very strange issue which I will do my best to explain properly.

If I turn on my sidelights or dipped xenons with the indicator stalk in the "default" position, my halogen main beams engage. There is an accompanying blue icon on the dash.

Pushing the stalk forward disengages the halogen main beams, the light goes out but obviously my xenons are now in "main beam" mode.

So at night I currently have a choice between blinding road users with the halogens or xenons...

I understand the function of the halogens is for flashing purposes as xenons take a while to warm up but I'm at the point where I'm considering pulling them out altogether.

I have a done a battery reset to no avail and with my OBD device have cleared all faults. When I engage the indicator stalk at all, one reappears in the Lighting module - Flasher signal switch line short circuit to ground.

Now this makes sense but the problem is I don't know where this short could be. Is the indicator stalk a likely culprit? If so, how simple is it to replace?

Doing some more reading I'm 99% sure it's the indicator stalk.

The LCM detects the flasher function according to the ground. So if that's shorting as the code suggests, I imagine the LCM thinks I have the flasher pulled back permanently.

Ordered one off eBay, will update when I swap it over. Any guidance on this would still be much appreciated

Not done it myself but had the steering wheel cowling off a few times for the reach motor. The leather gaitor clips off and sides back and underneath the steering column is 3 or 4 torx bolts holding the plastic cowls together. I seem to remember there are 2 different sizes - T25 & T27 needed (don't quote me) and you'll need these to be long handled as they are quite deep and a normal screwdriver length won't reach. You should then be able to see the indicator stalk and switch it out. I suspect someone else will be along if there is any special needed to remove the actual stalk Current Fleet:-

Brilliant thanks Nick. I had a look underneath and saw the holes for the screws. I have torx bits, lets just hope my socket extension is long enough. Replacement stalk here tomorrow hopefully.

Update... plugged in the new stalk, same problems. Either LCM or wiring has gone wonky I guess

Found an LCM from the same year on ebay for buttons so figured worth a try.

Problem solved! I have the mileage discrepancy dot now but rather that than wonky lights.
