Yep I can see the caps as you say. No real reason for stainless to be exorbitant price the raw material isnt massively different in cost and the CNC machining is the same so it can only be down to market forces. Ive turned up a few Prop Nuts for model aircraft out of hexagonal stainless bar, I may just devote some time to making a set of these.

The solid ones I bought are made from mild steel, but have been either Zinc plated or galvanised dipped, and they are fine.

I’ve just bitten the bullet and ordered a full set of black nickel wheel nuts from Wringtons. Got fed up with my basic bog standard wheel nuts going rusty but didn’t want to go down the chrome-capped route either. Wasn’t sure about spending that amount of money on the RR but convinced myself that it was an investment! 😉

I dip my nuts in a dish of old engine oil for a few mins whenever they are off so it seeps under the stainless steel skin, wipe off the excess and refit and they are still nice n 22mm... 2008 L322 Vogue 3.6 TDV8 in Java Black with parchment and Navy interior. 125000mls.
