Tow bar electrics

Hi I have a 2003 l322 se, I have a detachable tow bar which I have used so obviously there is a plug fitted, my question is should any lights illuminate on the dash or a buzzer when I indicate or am I just being paranoid! Lol I seem to remember years ago a buzzer was fitted in the boot so you knew that the caravan indicators were working??

I have a factory fitted towbar on mine. There is no additional lights or beepers to indicate the trailer/caravan indicators are working.

If they're not working, you get a warning message on the dash "Check Trailer Lights". 2004 Vogue TD6 - Remapped Smile

Hmmm, I thought by law that there had to be either a visual or audible indication for the driver to show that the trailer indicators were working? My Discovery 4 had a separate green trailer light on the dashboard which illuminated when indicating and the trailer was connected. I've not yet towed with my Range Rover but I would expect the same for that as well. Just looked in the handbook and it shows there is a green trailer symbol in the warning lights.

Not sure about the later ones, but the early >2006 cars don't have a warning light.

You just get the error message on the dash if one of the trailer lights isn't working. You also get a light on the suspension height knob to indicate the air suspension is locked out (you can't adjust the suspension height when a trailer is connected). 2004 Vogue TD6 - Remapped Smile

I expect then that the early models were supposed to have had an audible buzzer fitted when the electrics were installed

The pre 2010 models double flash the indicators if the trailer indicator isn’t working this cover the need for an audial or visible telltale for the trailer indicators not working.
