How-to: Start Stop Button Replacement

My 2010MY Vogue SE has a cracked start/stop button, my local dealer wanted £290 to replace it stating that it's an expensive switch and a dash-off job. So I did what any self-respecting forum member would do and googled the hell out of the subject. I couldn't find a how-to-guide so I thought I'd take some photos as I did the job to help anyone else looking to do this repair:

I found a new genuine switch with a slightly different part number that works for £19 (LRI Solutions): LR011898

The button is slightly different but it illuminates with the correct colour. Before:

The button is held in with three clips which need to be depressed to release it from the dash panel. You can see them in the following photos, one in the centre of the bottom of the switch and the other two at 120`

I was worried about damaging the soft dash so I put a bit of masking tape around the old switch before using an electricians screw driver to pop the clips one by one starting with the bottom one:

The switch popped out easily and there is a good length of wire to allow you to test the new switch before pushing it back into place.

Took no more than 5 minutes so I feel like I just won £270. Very Happy

Hope this helps anyone else who's suffering from a cracked start/stop button

Simon

Excellent "how-to" Bow down

By my calculations, the dealer is charging £3,460 per hour (12 x 5 minutes @ £290 less £20 for parts)

Of course, this rate is used to cover the majority of faults that should have been picked up at the factory QC Whistle

Hi Scotcruz,

The part number is LR011898. It cost less than 20 quid from LRI Solutions as "old stock" but they don't have any left. But if you Google for the part number you should find somewhere. LR Direct has them for under 40 quid:

Re: How-to: Start Stop Button Replacement

Hi there,

Mine is also damaged so I need to replace this part with number LR050802 but I have 2 questions:

1. Is there a difference between LHD or RHD?
2. Do i need to re-program this part because of keyless start?
3. Will this part also fit on a 2011 Vogue TDV8 4.4.?

Thanks!

Ignition start button LR050802 / late L322 models

Some extra information from my side after replacing:

Coding is not required for the facelift model TDV8 4.4. 2011. Just plug and play 5 minutes. Here is a photo from the connector when the cables are disconnected
