I want to remove my drivers electric switch surround, do I need to take the door card off?

I found a PowerfulUK vid showing how to remove a rear door (which can be done without removing the door card) but keen for any tips if anyone knows how.

I think the door card has to come off.

When we did the passenger window in mine it certainly looked to be the easiest route from memory.
