Walk away. There must be better SCs than that!

Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. It will be impossible to eradicate fully and whatever is done as a repair to the Cills will come back to haunt you after a couple of winters.

Had the car for 8 years but regularly treat it to a coating of oil and grease so to date no corrosion to cills or rear arches or for that matter anywhere else. |

My 2004 was waxoyled when bought new and its underside was pretty good when it was sold in 2013. My 2012 by contrast needed a new upper tailgate and had wheel arch rust after 2 1/2 years. It had not been waxoyled as it was a used demo when I got it so not the same opportunity. But in general the later cars seem worse for corrosion, perhaps due to a combination of different paint regulations, higher scrap content in the steel and maybe some cost saving at JLR under Ford. The need to repaint the 2012 322's arches every year from year 3 onwards was a major contributor to my move to a 405.

The 405 ought to be better given the aluminium architecture, the wheel arches and tailgate will be aluminium rather than steel. AFAIK the big issue with 322s is the structural nature of the hindquarters, making them costly to replace, and quite a big job too. "Lesser" components such as the tailgate are a costly nuisance too of course but not perhaps as fatal. There will be some steel components underneath the 405, it's too early for me to have a view on durability compared with the 322.
