TD6 glow plugs

Not wanting to tempt fate, but I've owned my 2003 TD6 for nearly 10 years now, and shes covered 115k from new. It just dawned on me about the glowplugs, having had several old Ford diesels in the past (Escorts and Escort vans) and I seemed to always be replacing glow plugs on the damn things...

Do they fail on RR's as well, and should mine of needed replacing yet? Never had an issue starting in the cold, so I'm assuming its something not to worry about Thumbs Up

I have three, new from LR, should you feel you need some.

If you read your codes, quite possible you will see a glow plug relay failure - which may mean nothing!

In UK climate, glow plugs probably not needed, but I always wait for the light to go out anyway before starting Wink .

Ahhh OK Joe, will keep you in mind.

I guess when i was having glowplug issues with old Fords it was 20+ years ago, when we had wintery winters and summery summers, not the other way round like these days Very Happy

Also see the wiki for how (how not) to change glow plugs....sometimes best to let sleeping dogs lie .

I got to 132k when my TD6 started to need to be cranked more to start. Went downhill quick after that, like a matter of weeks and I wasn’t sure it would fire at all.

Garage said if one has failed you won’t notice, but if 2 have you will.

Sure enough... needed 2 replacing. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
