New owner...folding mirror problem.

Hi all...just got my first TD6. Had Disco's 1 and 2 ( still got the D2)
2003 with 76 k on it. No sat nav.
Love it so far.
My mirrors fold in and then straight back out, This car'nt be normal. Is there a fix.
Also, no phone kit installed, so whats the best option and could some kind soul point me to a link.
As i'm still waiting for my owners manual, is there a link to what all the switches do . Sussed most of them
but not 100 percent.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome Andy (hey my first newbie greeting!)

Do a search there is plenty of info on here how to but to my best recollection it involves double-tapping the mirror button (best make sure u don't have a 9mm in your hand at the same time - could be expensive! Whistle

Welcome Andy.

If Dolphinboys suggestion does not work, there is a little metal clip which can work loose and may well be worth taking the shroud off for a look. simply reclipping the tag back in worked for me. Thumbs Up 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Thanks dolpinboy..
Ajac8, is the clip in the mirror. By shroud, do you mean the back of the mirror.
Cheers guys

Hi, it been a long time since I had to do it but yes i remember taking the shroud off (the bit you would normally colour code). As the mirror closes there is a contact made with the clip i'm talking about. this comes loose and simply needs refixing in place. It worked for me but my memory is sketchy. hopefully someone here will know what I'm trying to explain.

first try a mirror reset. push the fold button down twice in quick succession.this may fix it
if not its the micro switch in the mirrors. the metal clip is actual the micro switch arm that falls of the switch. re-attaching often cures the problem,
you will have to look at both mirrors to check
you don't need to remove the whole assembly from the door, but you do need to remover the outer mirror covers. this is achieved by using a thin scrapper or steel ruler and sliding it around the gap in the mirror to remove the glass frame. once down the cover can be removed
the micro switch is hidden under a cover which slides towards you.

or you can look in the wiki

I shall have to try the reset. In hot weather (most of the time here), the RH mirror folds in then back out. The LH mirror stays closed. Ron B. VK2OTC

Finally!! The reset didnt fix it, so I took the mirror cover off, found the plastic cover that fits over the micro switch. when I removed it the small metal arm that operates the switch had dropped off, fitted it back on and sure enough the mirror now folds in and stays folded. Thanks guys.

we should perhaps step back and take a long look at ourselves!! We no longer want to fold a mirror back ourselves, nor do we want to adjust it ourselves, let alone adust the drivers seat position!!
However, the problem has gone away and without parting with any cash!!!!!
