Retrofit homelink?

So I've just moved house, and being at the end of a farm track, we have 2 five bar gates, both electrically operated with remote control and an electric garage door.

Not bothered about the garage door as my Lotus lives in there, but would be good to not have to fumble for the remote when coming down the track to open the gates.

Question is, can I retrofit homelink? I have a 2004 Vogue with the autodim mirror, I see a number of homelink rear view mirrors on ebay from the US - would these work in the UK? Is it a plug n play, or is there more wiring or control units needed? 2004 Vogue TD6 - Remapped Smile

If your gate has a rolling code fob/receiver then homelink will not work. Tried, googled and failed.

I've got homelink in my FF but cannot use it on my gates or garage as they are rolling code and the aftermarket system I've fitted to get the house alarm, gate and garage all on one fob is also rolling code.

If you are adament that you want it then you can install an aftermarket fixed code receiver or if your setup allows set it to fixed code but compromise the security of the system.

The easier option if you really can't stand having an extra fob in the armrest is to hack into the wiring from the mirror buttons and connect them to the buttons on the fob. Current

I had Homelink on a couple of cars & could never get it working with rolling code garage doors - gave up & just used the fob.

No clue if the gates or garage door are rolling code.

May just take a punt on this out of curiosity:

Cheap enough to butcher but it won't work as intended in this country due to the operating frequency. Current
