So you've got a complete system available? If so I'd be interested in relieving you of it all for appropriate recompense...

Nearest place to us is Cricket St Thomas near Chard. I used to use Matfords on my first FF. They were expensive as any of the MDs are, but friendly enough and did some good things for me. But in the end there were just too many annoying incidents and I gave up with them. Stuff like: I had the final stage resistor issue. I asked them to sort it. They kept telling me nothing was wrong. I said I'd read about the FSR online and I thought that might be the issue. They said nothing was wrong. I bought a new FSR off scambay and fitted it myself...all the seemingly unrelated issues went away. They told me I needed a new headlight for the MOT did I want one... Err yes I'll have to have one for it to pass. They failed to mention until I collected it that they were charging £750 just for the part - I had no idea...had assumed maybe £1-200 fitted. The final straw was the last time they had it they gave it back to me with the screen reverted to a 70s style character based interface. I asked what was going on. Service manager comes out and says "that's how they are". No I say, I've had the car for over 3 years and its normally a graphical interface. He just held his line and said there was nothing wrong with it. I managed to get a new/old unit for inside the rear wing elsewhere and all was restored, but I've not been back to Matford for service since. To balance that I had a serious gearbox issue and broke down in Solihull. Car was recovered to Stratstone and they tried it on big time claiming I needed new parts that Matfords had already replaced a few weeks before. I simply called Matfords and asked them to sort it as either they hadn't done the work that I had previously paid for or Stratstones were telling porkies. Stratstones story subsequently changed and just two hoses were replaced for a couple of hundred which got me going again and was about £5000 less than their initial quote. Some months later however I did need the gearbox replaced but Matford did it with a recon unit for about £2000 whereas Stratstones had quoted over £4k for the same job. I used two indies on the 4.2. The best stopped trading after about 3 years sadly and the other was OK but I was never quite as comfortable with them. When I got the 5.0 I decided to try another MD and have been using Yeovil LR. Wont be going back there again obviously. The trouble is there aren't very many and I believe that Matfords, Yeovil and Taunton are all part of Helston Garages so I'm sure the same company practices will pervade throughout. Well I'm certainly happy to pass it all on, but its an awful long way to Moray and I stupidly have already chucked the boxes! Its not quite a complete set up. Its the full steps/motor assembly for each side - but less than pristine (!) and sticking, plus all new fittings including the internal switch but except for two of the eight M6 bolts which I used to replace the mankiest of the ones on mine. The module is new unopened in the box. What I didn't buy was the wiring harness which would be this bit on a later car https://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/range-ro...-2012.html as I knew mine was OK. As I said looking to get my cost back on the new module, but not bothered about the rest. If you're interested you can have it all for £100 plus whatever it costs to get it to you...which would probably be prohibitive (due to being heavy and very long) unless you know a way.... I just realised yours is the later model, mine is a 2008 so presumably a different fit..? |

The steps are the same...but the wiring harness and module you need is different. The instructions cover both earlier and later models signified by =>2010 and 2010=> in the pictograms. Mike - MPx

Ah okay, so obviously your module wouldn't be any use to me then. If you have bubble wrap and packing tape to hand, then boxes wouldn't really be necessary. If you can measure dimensions of the steps, individually and together if you like, including weight, I can get a courier quote.
