My Range Rover is the grand old age of 3 years in June and has been faultless up to now (touching wood)!
I have only done 20,000 from new and will only do about 8,000 miles per year in future.
Has anyone got any recommendations regarding an extended warranty - I've had a fairly poor experience in the past so am slightly apprehensive about going with a company without very positive reviews.

I've got an all singing & dancing one from warrantywise, added dpf & cats onto it too, managed to get an amazing discount on black Friday so well happy. Very worthwhile shopping about, most are keen to do a deal.

There's different levels but the top level covers everything the used warranty would and it covers MoT failures too.

I’ll be going with LR’s own warranty when the time comes for my SDV8 but, it’s not so clear cut for the V6. Beware the “design faults” clause. They class crank shaft failure as a “design fault” and will leave you high and dry, having to find a new engine. With a V6, I’d consider Warranty Direct. Their premiums are very dependent on starting mileage, so you should be okay. Be sure to get sufficiently high labour rates covered so that you don’t have to put your nice new Range Rover into their Mickey Mouse, cheap for a good reason, “Approved” workshop in the back of beyond

When I was offered a LR extended warranty one of the two possible ones had a maximum claim limit for any one occurrence, well short of the cost of (say) turbo goes and destroys engine. That sort of warranty is a waste of money IMHO. Check the details before buying. Only Range Rovers since 1988

With your mileage, I would not buy any warranty save the money that you would have spent in a tin under the bed, for when or if it fails, double up on services and all should be good, (Maybe)
Like any Insurance, if they can get out of paying they will?

I can recommend Warranty Direct. Very easy to deal with, good premiums, flexible cover, wear & tear included. I also considered Warranty Wise but Quentin Wilson makes me hurl and I found people at WD nicer.

Into 4th year of cover, no claim rejected, £2k paid out across 3 claims. On balance I would have been better off with putting the money under the mattress, but, I have the piece of mind that a catastrophic failure like turbo or gearbox will not leave me crying into my beer and servicing and MOTs are no sweat.

If 3 years and 20k shows you have a good ‘un, and £600 to £1000 per annum into Funding Circle at 5 to 10% (I’m currently getting 10.5% return actually), then self-insuring could be the thinking man’s approach if in the unfortunate event of a major failure you have the resources to get back on the road.

I’ve had a breakdown warranty with W D in the past and they did pay out a proportion of the cost on a new alternator on my then L332 but you have to read the small print very carefully to avoid being turned down.
Having said that I think the garage I was using were lazy with their paperwork! 2020 MY Vogue

Forgot that in addition to a "proper" warranty, I have a bolt on with the AA which covers up to £500 of repairs if they can't fix you at the side of the road. Paid for 2 alternators in the past
