If so, which holes are you using for the tow ball to bolt to for a level caravan?

The hitch itself slides into the receiver and is held in place by the pin. There is, however, a fair amount of free play that will rattle like a with the trailer in place!

Hi, Andy, the centre holes give you the same height as the swan neck type I have measured it and others can verify that on here? |

I’d agree with that plan entirely |

The early versions of that tow hitch had a clean hole - so you could use a bolt or pin.

I’m talking about a hole (with spot welded nut) in the receiver tube itself, rather than the solid metal bar. |

Understood - and needed with a smooth hole in the bar - but the threaded hole doesn’t need the additional anti-rattle

The TDV8 is sept 09 so I assume it was factory fitted. All the electrics are there dated 2009 as well. The detachable bit has never been used and is sat in the storage box in the boot.
