Windscreen draining pipes

Hi guys , first post but long time with range rover , I have done a good search but couldn’t find the answer, I’ve got 2012 Westminster and trying to find out if there should be a pipe connected to the centre drainage hole under the windscreen, just below the windscreen wiper bolt , the pipes are connected to each end but there’s no pipe contact to the middle one , I have had a major problem with complet battery drain and alarm going off ,only when it’s rains ,I have blocked the hole up with silicone ( temporary) and with all the rain we have had it hasn’t drained the battery or the alarm hasn’t gone off , should there be a pipe and if so what’s the part number ? Thanks in advance guys

No pipe that I am aware of.

One could always fit one.... .

There's a post earlier about water getting onto the battery and edward19 found that the scuttle, in which there are the drain holes to which the outer pipes are fitted, was warped. A touch of silicone on the scuttle when removed and refitted solved the problem. You may have solved this on yours.

Ask him the location of the silicone he fitted. Cheers

Thanks for the link , that was a interesting read , the hole I have blocked up is a actual drain hole ( the centre one ) , I can’t believe RR has put pipes on the 2 outer drain outlets and not on the centre one ! Or have they and mine has been taken off or left off when the put a new battery on ,

I was going to have to looksee for this centre hole, but in the morning, however, being a conscientious FF owner and nosy have been out just now. (daft b Censored r)

I can't see a centre drain on mine, an 11, so how about a photo of yours to ease my mind that I am not missing an essential part of the car Razz Cheers

Brilliant thanks , you can get your hand under the hole from back of engine, will be interesting to see if you have a pipe on yours , look forward to your reply 👍👍

Just had a look at mine and yep, there is a drain hole with a sort of socket under in the position you sealed. I had to take out the pollen filter assembly to see it. There is no pipe fitted to mine, thus I assume the contours of the filter assembly are designed so as to channel any water away to the siderear of the engine and thence to ground. Looks that way anyway.

Using a jetwash on mine has not, so far, produced problems. When I have time I may see what happens when pouring a gallon of water over the screen. Cheers

Thanks rjff for looking for me , I had tried everything to find the battery drain, reading everything on this forum , as it was draining with the slightest bit of rain , since I’ve blocked the hole it haven’t happened once , so it must of been making its way from there to one of the Ecu’s , with the amount of rainfall Wales has had in the last few days there’s been pair of animals looking for a big boat !

You might want to check out your left rear cubby in the boot for water ingress - this is usually where it all goes wrong!

Also have a look at the area behind the right hand lower A pillar (where the bonnet handle is) for issues with the LCM and/or under the front passenger seat for the BCM

Damp in any of these areas can cause battery drain and eventual break down of the components

Also your Final Stage Resistor (FSR / hedgehog found above drivers left footrest) can be a cause of battery drain
and your windscreen seal along the scuttle. .
