Cabriolet roof faded

Thought I'd ask on here, as I know we are a bunch of perfectionists Smile

The other half's cab roof is a faded dark grey colour, and you can see streaks etc where over the years, the task of washing it has been entrusted by the friendly locals with a pressure washer Evil or Very Mad

Are there any popular treatments to bring it back to its former glory?

I used some stuff by Renovo on my Mini - seemed to do the trick

Started with a cleaner as I had green tree droppings on it, then the restorer then a waterproof layer.

Easy to use, just a regular paint brush Thumbs Up

Another vote here for renovo, just make sure you are thorough on the cleaning stage. When you use the Renovo make sure you wipe runs off paintwork quickly, can be a bit of a pain once it has dried. 4.2SC; 1960 TR6; XF Sportbrake

I had a Mini that needed doing and used some Milton sterilising tablets with a brush to agitate the dirt

What car? What type of roof MrBlonde?

I used Renovo on a mates 650 BMW and it worked really well...
Tried it on a Ferrari 360 Spyder roof and it didn't work on that material at all!

Craig, its an Audi A4 cab, 2003 model. Not too sure what the roof material is (not the technical term anyway)

I call it 'sun faded, bird dropping, tree sap off-black' Sad

+1 for the renovo but only the staining and water proving stages. I found renovo cleaner a waste of time. SWMBO 6 series had a lot of algae which had baked hard. Only a decent citrus cleaner could cope with that and it took several attempts. I resorted to soaking it in citrus cleaner and covering with cling film. left if for a couple of hours then jet washed hard. it did the trick.
The renovo black stain is easy to apply but as said above if it drips on the paint get it off quickly.

One side of her roof ran slightly on the rear wing whilst I was doing the other side. It dried and was a total fag to cut out and repolish.

The water proofer is essential afterwards.

The results are well satisfying. Thumbs Up 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus
