Hi guys

I've just bought a used L405 which has had the above check. However, when I was washing it today I noticed that the rear discs are quite lipped.

The salesman told me when I bought it that there are minimum limits for things like brakes and tyres, but he didn't know what those limits were.

When I've had my car serviced at LR in the past I always get a detailed breakdown of the wear on tyres and brakes using a red amber and green system. But I got no such info with the car I've bought.

Does anyone know please whether I should have had anything to demonstrate that the 165 point check was completed?

The check sheet just gets ticked and filled with lies.

Ask the dealer to replace them and anything else they missed.
If they refuse, exercise your return within 30 days options and see if they see it your way.

Been bitten by LR before and never again.

To be honest the dealership has been a bit tricky so far.

Unless I am missing something the minimum disc thickness is not in that thread.

There is a link to a document that I was given - i.e. what is checked on the 165 point check. But I wasn't given the form the tech in theory completed which will have shown the thicknesses.

You could always pop into one of the various highstreet autocentres that have got a 'free brake check' offer on, I'm pretty sure you'll get a piece of paper saying they need replacing plus a load of other things that don't. Current

Sizes/thickness's are stamped into your disc bells... Remaining thickness can then easily be measured

I too thought that the disc lipping on my 27,000 mile L405 was excessive, however in talking to two (admittedly L-R) garages before I bought the car (from another L-R garage) they told me that there was plenty of 'meat' left on the disc, and that a new disc only starts 2mm thicker than the minimum thickness (stamped around the hub area of the disc) and that this wear-rate would equate to 50,000 miles which is normal.
