My 2006MY is a Dec 2005 facelift model but they use the earlier interior still.

I have read the 2012 interior don’t fit but have now heard/seen 3 examples where they do.

There is a not a lot of factual info out there on how it might be done though.

Do you say this through experience? Any help appreciated. 2003 Autobiography 4.4

The simple answer is NO they will NOT fit...

That said, anything is possible if you throw money and time at it! The front foot wells changed and are reinforced on a 2007MY due to the side impact airbags moving from the doors to the seats. So, if you cut the floor pan out and welded in a 2007MY floor pan then the seats would bolt in!
Secondly, the wiring would be a nightmare! The seat heaters wouldn’t work as they would be peltier motors rather than heating elements on an 06MY.
And finally, the airbags in your doors currently have week points in your current door cards to allow them to tear the door cards open during deployment! This will NOT occur when fitting 2012 door cards!

Imagine what your insurance company would make of that!

So, could you fit a 2012MY interior into a 2006MY model? Physically YES it’s possible! Given extremely body modification! Will they work and meet MOT/Insurance standards ABSOLUTELY NOT imho sir...

It would be crazy to mess with the airbags. I just want the seats in.
I have seen/heard of it being done three times.
I can guarantee no one has been cutting floors out.

Have you tried it or read about it elsewhere on the web? 2003 Autobiography 4.4

I’ve. Been asked to do it several times and refused. One of my customers bought a 2004 with a late interior fitted, we took the front seats out to see if we could make the electrics work and someone had welded in bits of angle iron etc to make a frame for the later front seats to mount to...

Basically the later seats are on narrower bases so if you bolt one side down the other two bolt holes are 70/80mm away from the old mounting holes!

Far too much of a bodge for me to get involved in...

Interesting as I have heard they just needed a pin removing to slot in as normal. No idea what that meant.
That may be helpful so thank you.
I at least managed to get the current seat to move today so I can drive it again. What a pig that was. 2003 Autobiography 4.4

You seam unconvinced Bil... Why don't you put a tape across the front bolts of your drivers seat, then ask someone here to measure the front bolt width on an 07> you will then have the relevant measurements sir Thumbs Up

It’s not so much about being unconvinced. You have been really helpful.
I have had directly contradictory feedback from several sources.
I actually lean to your feedback as it is rare to find these conversions and there is likely a reason for it as you have highlighted.
I have the 2012 seats already so will be checking before progressing.
Will have a look as soon as the rain stops tomorrow.

Such a shame if they don’t fit as not only are they mint but they are also autobiography, beautifuly soft and have high end video screens fitted. 2003 Autobiography 4.4

Update on this ... sadly the 2012 seats will not fit. Not because they are too wide but because the later seats are narrower.

Very disappointed as they are gorgeous seats. I actually bought the Black car to fit them in..

Now i need to find a really nice earlier set of seats and debating removing the screens from 5he 2012 seats. 2003 Autobiography 4.4

A further update as info so hard to come by.

2003 to 2009 seats have centre to centre measurement of 45.5cm

So wiring aside (a different subject all together) a 2006 to 2009 seat will physically fit into a 2003. A spike may need cutting off the bottom also to be confirmed, and of course 2006 onwards had airbags which would be silly to mess with.

Sometime between 2009 and 2012 the seat bases changed. Suspicion is 2010 MY but not confirmed yet.

The 2012 (possibly 2010 onwards) seats are much smaller, being circa 41cm centre to centre width.

What I am going to try to find out if the 2012 cushions/leather is the same as a 2006 to 2009.

If this is the case I can buy a knackered pair of 2006 to 2009 seat bases and put my mint 2012 cushions on them. More to follow. 2003 Autobiography 4.4

I did give you the dates above sir! The seats changed with the 2007 interior facelift! So, to be clear...

2002my -2006my has wide mounted seats...
2007my -2012my (including the 2009 facelift) had narrower mounted seats...

So, simply put. If you have the early dash, your seats will have wider mounting points. If you have a facelift model with the later dash layout your seats will have the narrower mounting points!
Simples 😬👍

That’s not correct unfortunately.

My dates are correct as have physically measured the seats. I just don’t know what year between 2009 and 2012 they went thinner but it’s important we don’t misinform. I already bought an incorrect interior based on incorrect info.
My gut feel is 2010 MY is the swap but 2007 to 2009 are wide based even though the design changed.

This also explains why there are cars with ‘later’ seats. They are later but not the 41cm thinner, they will have been 2007 to 2009 seats or botched in very late seats.

To be really clear there are three seat types: (aside from the rear reclining autobiography i will leave out)

Early wide 45.5cm until 2006
Mid wide 45.5cm 2006 to at least 2009 (new design leather)
Late thinner base. 41cm unknown, suspect 2009 late (2010 MY) onwards 2003 Autobiography 4.4

Maybe you can ask the kind members on here to measure their seats...

Oh and please ask Scottav (a member here) who purchased a 2007 3.6 TDV8 from me and we fitted 2012 AB seats to it for him... And yes they were a direct swap for the 2007 seats... Whistle
