Is this at the main dealer, yes as far as I am aware only the SDV8 and Supercharged have it. They might be taking you for a ride |

Thanks carlos50, oh dear, I’m more comnfused than ever, very glad I didn’t fork out for the new reservoir at the time, needed thinking time. So do I call them and tell Harwoods this can’t be right? |

Hendersonmum not uncommon over the years I have had quite a few experiences when main dealers just make stuff up and tell me parts need replacing or changing when it hasn't been the case, it's easy money to cash in from customers who have no idea and just pay up as they believe them being a main dealer ........ Just tell them how can it need changing when to my knowledge I don't believe my car even one to replace the filter on and see what they say !! |

I found the same with darker looking oil so I sucked the oil out of the reservoir and replaced with fresh. It won't have removed all the oil but at least some of the dirtier looking stuff has been removed. |

Thinking of doing the same, what did you use and did you just put into the reservoir |

I sucked the oil out with a Silverline suction pump. Its about the same size as a grease gun and less than £10 from Amazon. I then topped the reservoir back up with Ravenol SSF Cold Climate fluid and all seems fine. Not as good as a total change but better than no change. I suppose if you ran the car and repeated the process once or twice it would remove most of the old fluid without getting in to more complicated options. |

Were you able to put the tube down the reservoir pipe or did you just sit it in the reservoir and suck as much as possible?

I sucked the oil directly out of the reservoir leaving a small amount in the bottom, probably about 200-300 ml taken out. As said, if you drive the car and then repeat in theory it should get cleaner each time. Providing the engine isn't running during the process it shouldn't do any harm and removes a fair amount of the old fluid and any suspended crap quickly and easily. Not as good as a complete change of course |
