United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Vogue TDV6 Luxor
Dynamic Response Resvervoir

Hello...
I have just had my 3.0 TDV6 in for a service and one of the points from the health check was that the filter in the dynamic response reservoir needs replacing but this can only be done by replacing the whole reservoir and at quite a price!!

I joined your forum to find out my options and have only seen posts that suggest that it is only installed in the SDV8 and so now I’m really confused.

Can anyone advise please..?

Is this at the main dealer, yes as far as I am aware only the SDV8 and Supercharged have it. They might be taking you for a ride

Thanks carlos50, oh dear, I’m more comnfused than ever, very glad I didn’t fork out for the new reservoir at the time, needed thinking time. So do I call them and tell Harwoods this can’t be right?

Hendersonmum not uncommon over the years I have had quite a few experiences when main dealers just make stuff up and tell me parts need replacing or changing when it hasn't been the case, it's easy money to cash in from customers who have no idea and just pay up as they believe them being a main dealer ........ Just tell them how can it need changing when to my knowledge I don't believe my car even one to replace the filter on and see what they say !!

I hope this post will help people.

My 2014 RR Autobiography went in as I kept getting a suspension fault. The main dealer reported back that I had a hydraulic line weep and the pipe needed to be replaced. It would not be covered under warranty for some BS reason...they wanted 22 hours labour which was just over £4000 plus VAT....after my shock response it dropped by £1000 "as they wanted to look after me"

I took the car away and got the friendly chaps at Pirtek to come out, they replaced the leaking part on my driveway with the front passenger side jacked up, 1 hour later and £120 plus VAT the car is fit as a fiddle.

The reason the part had corroded is that LR had a piece of sponge attached to the pipe that holds water and corrodes the pipe. this should be warranty work or recall IMO.

Was that causing the fluid level to drop, I dont have any messages so was going to top it up and monitor it?

Topped mine up today, needed approx 100ml

Noticed how dark the fluid was compared with the new stuff and the top up made a difference in ride firmness, will keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t drop straight away

I found the same with darker looking oil so I sucked the oil out of the reservoir and replaced with fresh. It won't have removed all the oil but at least some of the dirtier looking stuff has been removed.

Thinking of doing the same, what did you use and did you just put into the reservoir

I sucked the oil out with a Silverline suction pump. Its about the same size as a grease gun and less than £10 from Amazon. I then topped the reservoir back up with Ravenol SSF Cold Climate fluid and all seems fine. Not as good as a total change but better than no change. I suppose if you ran the car and repeated the process once or twice it would remove most of the old fluid without getting in to more complicated options.

Were you able to put the tube down the reservoir pipe or did you just sit it in the reservoir and suck as much as possible?

Ive got appox 900ml of the bottle i got the other day and just bought another 1L along with the 4L Silverline suction pump (will use for other fluids possibly), how much did you get out?

I sucked the oil directly out of the reservoir leaving a small amount in the bottom, probably about 200-300 ml taken out. As said, if you drive the car and then repeat in theory it should get cleaner each time. Providing the engine isn't running during the process it shouldn't do any harm and removes a fair amount of the old fluid and any suspended crap quickly and easily. Not as good as a complete change of course
