Tyre sizes

My 2010my L322 is currently running on 20" original 10-spoke wheels with Pirelli Zero 255/50R20 (LR OEM size), but as I go green-laning, and also tow my trailer onto off-road sites, I want something with a bit more grip.

My preference is General Grabber AT3. However, the closest size they do is 255/55R20 which will increase the diameter by 1" though width will be the same.

I have measured carefully and clearance under the wheel arches should not be a problem, but does anybody have any experience of fitting slightly bigger tyres? Andrew

Lots of L322 owners switch to the 55 profile and actually its more accurate speedometer wise than the 50's 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

Probably because the speedo deliberately overreads. Mine is set to 2MPH IIRC from the CCF. Current: RR L322 2010
Past: RR L405 2017, RR L322 2012, 2008 & 2004, 2018 D5, 2016 Defender, 2011 D4, a few Disco2s, P38, RR Classic, couple of Disco1's, SIII SWB

As above - the 255 55 20 are a standard size on the L405 so are readily available and cheaper than 255 50 20's - so quite a few people have fitted them to L322's with no problems at all.

My 2012 WM latterly had Goodyear 255/55R20 on 405 style 502 wheels. No problems as regards fit/rubbing. Speedo was almost exactly accurate per Road Angel Gem device, almost to the point of under-reading. Steering a bit slower than the 255/50R20 standard size. Ride quality will vary depending on tread design etc - the standard Continentals have soft sidewalls and so ride a bit softer than all terrains like the AT3 (or Goodyear Duratrac which I use in winter). Only Range Rovers since 1988
