Discs and Pads

There was a time when I would undertake such a simple job myself but off to the Indie it must go. They only use genuine parts but want £650 all in for the fronts - seems fair, but is it? Geoff

Seems a little high for a simple job. How much of that is for the parts though? 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Eurocarparts using Brembo and the current 50% discount runs out at approx £350 for fronts and rears -- discs and pads -- though that price is for the 4.4 TDV8 Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I'll be going with it, parts are expensive but I've read that it's best to use genuine bits and bobs, includes new sensors and fitting kits. Discs were about £75 each and the pads about the same. I am currently unable, due to having a gimpy leg, to do the work myself. Geoff

I think my labour cost for the fronts back in Jan at a very well respected LR Indie in London were ~£150, but the parts cost was definitely greater than that!

Buy that JUNK and you'll be paying for genuine brakes within weeks! BREMBO do NOT make brake pads! ECP's are selling cheap second rate pads in BREMBO branded boxes as there is a loophole in the branding law that allows any manufacturer to use the BREMBO logo when selling brake pads for vehicles fitted with BREMBO callipers...

Been there, tried that! Absolute junk!!!

So I'll be using a reputable indie who only fit genuine parts, as I said I can't do the work but as Craig has indicated "buy cheap - buy twice" Geoff

Have you thought about these EBC Yellowstuff pads. Now I haven’t got them but it has been mentioned on here before with favourable feedback and a lot less dust.

Steve.

Stan,

Jurid, may be the supplier of the OE front pads - but it may vary according to caliper type / manufacturer.
If I remember correctly, there are TRW (what was Girling originally) + 2 types of Brembo caliper.
As stated previously, Brembo do not make pads, they only make calipers.

At the rear, I know the TRW single piston calipers used Ferodo pads, supplied by TRW as OE (Ferodo 4212 material)
I recently bought some genuine LR boxed rear pads which have Ferodo& TRW marking.
However, people beware pads with only TRW branding were NOT supplied as OE. TRW only manufacture their own unique TRWAftermarket pads. Paul,
