I’ve found this post, but it’s an L405 v6, but it finishes by saying the 4.4 sensor is easy because it is external.

If this helps, dash message with cold engine and bonnet shut and working level indicator.

Just caught your other thread, and I think Mike's (Baltic Blue) and Stan's ideas of fuses and voltage should be your first port of call.

If your battery is getting wet, a thorough clean of all contcts/connectors in that area may help. These beasties are easy prey for electrical gremlins. Cheers

Thanks rjff that is the picture I was looking at last night but was unable to post because I am using an internet connection so slow I think it must be via carrier pigeon,
but now other symptoms are being discussed like temperature sensor, wet battery.... it’s time to get the AVO out and the wiring diagram.

A big thanks to everyone for helping me. The pictures and suggestions are a great help. With regards to the water leak the drain channel in the top right hand corner, adjacent to the wing is unblocked. However when it rains, the water runs over the top of the gully in the trim and onto the battery. Any suggestions on how to remove would be great.

In my photo you can just see the drain tube in the dark recesses of the battery compartment. Make sure that is properly connected to the bottom of the drain fitting circled and is not blocked somewhere along it length. Mine was, and let the water build up until it overflowed onto the battery. I used a strimmer cable as you would a drain rod. Worth checking the driver's side too. Cheers

rjff... my dad bought me an AVO 8 as a gift for passing my C&G full tech, and it is still in regular use nearly 50 years on.

The dash pic you posted oil level unavailable is normal, you have to wait 10-15 minutes for the oil to settle before it will give you a read. Or did you work that out?

I've only just received the fuel pump back this afternoon. It took nearly 2 weeks for a fast service!!! I managed to plumb it in and try just before it got dark. The air suspension came up and the vehicle moved a few inches back and forth but I then shut it off for the night. I'm planning to take a look at the oil level sensor next and check the fuse etc. I was keen to make sure nothing was missing from my car (except the engine cover!!!) and ran water down the drain hole in the top RH corner.

I've done a test overnight and after clearing the drain hole in the top right hand corner of the scuttle, I put some kitchen towel in the recess where the battery goes. After a small rain shower overnight the tissue is soaked. I've posted a photo of the area and hopefully everyone can see that there is a definite gap between my trim panels running along the front of the scuttle and the wing. Any ideas as to what is happening?

Thanks for the picture. It looks almost identical to me, which is weird. I've used a small funnel and poured water into it, which then ran down somewhere between the inner wing and the plastic surround (I think). Do you think the seals have lost their compliance? The one on the wing further toward the front of the car is knackered.
