Dan very kindly helped me out with some of the hose he used after I struggled to get the specs listed above.

Did you run your hand down the entire length of both top hoses to make sure thy haven't failed lower down at the back? If they are squishy they need replacing, did you check the third hose at the bottom of the cyclone?

When i had mine done the mech couldn't get a hose on the bottom either, although it was clamped to the cyclone. Upon further investigation there is a 4th hose, I know you really don't want to hear that! It's this one:
Mine was found when I had to have the whole cover replaced (after a mech broke it!) It wasn't attached to the cover near HC4 on the diag' but the hose was all blocked up. Also the tube on the cover (hc4) was bunged up too so the mech just capped it off rather than try and find the remains of this hose and replace it. It drains any excess oil out of the Oil Separator Valve, but with it capped I've not noticed any problems, especially as I've done 20,000 miles with it hanging off and blocked up previously. |

I had mine in last week getting the PCV hoses replaced, a new droplink, (so much for them being replaced at the last MOT before I bought the car!) and a new thermostat and housing including one of the sensors, (i think!).

I found the 4th hose when I was there but didn't realise it was connected to the PCV, it was in okay condition so I wasn't worried about it. I actually assumed it was a vacuum hose or something like that. |

I did this job again on the new car. It's been suffering from high idle and not great mpg as well as the check engine light coming on with P1171 and P1174 codes.
