Hi guys; I’m after some pointers or ideas as electrical gremlins have struck today.
All started when my neighbour opposite phoned to tell me I’d left my lights on. Strange really, as due to ill health I haven’t been out in the Rangie for over 7 days! Went and checked and the front o/s fog light is on. Light switch is off. Pushed fogs switch on/off and it went out. 2 minutes later back on it came. Operated light switch and fogs and all lights and fogs work as normal and go on/off ok but the O/S fog comes on intermittently on its own so obviously a short somewhere. As we’ve had horrific rain and high winds the last few days I’ve checked all inside car for possible leaks – no signs of water or moisture anywhere and under the bonnet is dry as a bone too. The battery is fine as its connected to my ctec on maintenance mode so not a flat battery issue. Would disconnect a fuse if there was one specifically for the fogs but there ain’t one. The woman opposite is going to get fed up being flashed at so has anyone got any ideas where the gremlin might be?

fogs are only usable when the main dip is on so this is a weird one...somehow power is getting to this one fog light ...

tell me about it .... have just disconnected it for the night cos its been going on and off randomly for hours now. Will try tracing fault on weekend if weather allows

One of my P38As did something similar. It was a problem in the BECM. Maybe the LCM in the L322? Ron B. VK2OTC

And if it has, do you have either 13 pin socket or 2x7 pin sockets.....

... cos a short in the tow electrics could be the cause of your problems, both the 13 pin and 7S pin sockets have +12v feeds, which can be live all the time. And obviously there is a connection to the fog lights.... put the 2 together and you have light!! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Cheers Miggit good idea as I've had probs with the towing sockets some years ago draining the battery through water and corrosion. All replaced and sealed. Have checked on the off chance but all ok.

FAULT FOUND I think! After much searching I found the LCM in the A pillar was wet! No signs of water running down the pillar or bulkhead and whilst carpets were dry to touch the sponge underfelt was a little wet at the base of the pillar. So search was on for the source of the leak; all usual culprits checked sunroof drains all clear and running freely, plenum drains also ok. Running a hose over the roof and windscreen showed no signs of seepage that I could detect and even in the upper A pillar (with the airbag) all was dry even a little dusty. Totally mystified so after searching this great forum looked at the windscreen again. Its the original so not a prob from a screen replacement fitting. However, I noticed that the rubber trim where the roof strip for the roof bars joins the screen it was sitting a little proud. lifting the trim panel back it was obvious that there was a slight gap in the sealant at top of the screen. So following previous threads on similar water leak faults I've resealed the area as a precaution. Tested again with the hose and still no signs of a trickle inside so hope it was a one off caused by the recent freezing temps, snow and driving rain shrinking the sealant and allowing penetration. Time will tell
Running a heater and dehumidifier inside the car has extracted some 300mls of water and all is now toasty dry and the electrics/lights are working as they should. Fingers crossed I've cracked it

You didn't say it was the sub-aquatic spec L322...... Haven't you seen all those war films.... they always have a red light on in side the sub
