Predicted major maintenance issues

Hi all. Looking at getting a 4.4 V8 soon. MY14 or 15. Will be purchased on PCP so I can hand back after 3 years and not worry about depreciation or dealing with dealers. So my only real concern is maintenance issues in 3 years/30,000 miles

Question is, should I go for an ultra low mileage with around 15k and own it through to 45k or one with good SH at say 40k miles and run through to 70k. They can all break at any point but that’s the same with all cars but are there any major service issues (not covered by warranty) that occur in a certain mileage range? Just had 12 coils and plugs replaced on my other car for the price of a decent 2nd hand car and was told they always break down between 25k - 30k. Wish I asked this question before buying that car Mad

As you say they can break at any point, but if you are buying from a dealer then they should be giving you a couple of years approved used warranty, which should cover things for mechanical failure etc. Not wear and tear tho. No plugs and coils in a diesel..... so no issue there.

Personally, a car with 15k on is practically new mechanically..... I would just go on what the car feels like it’s history and general overall condition, backed up by a manufacturers warranty then you should be OK outlay wise. If you can only get 2 years approved used then it can be extended if you need. Also try to negotiate a good price on a service package with the deal then You are all covered for the duration!!

These cars can be expensive beasts to run, but with a little care and preventative maintenance they will run well! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Go for the 15MY over the 14MY as the 405 had most of the early niggles/problems solved on the 15MY release... Just my 2p... Thumbs Up

I agree, would go for the later MY. I switched from a MY14 to MY16 and noticed the difference, have had no trouble with the later one.
