As you say they can break at any point, but if you are buying from a dealer then they should be giving you a couple of years approved used warranty, which should cover things for mechanical failure etc. Not wear and tear tho. No plugs and coils in a diesel..... so no issue there.
Personally, a car with 15k on is practically new mechanically..... I would just go on what the car feels like it’s history and general overall condition, backed up by a manufacturers warranty then you should be OK outlay wise. If you can only get 2 years approved used then it can be extended if you need. Also try to negotiate a good price on a service package with the deal then You are all covered for the duration!!
These cars can be expensive beasts to run, but with a little care and preventative maintenance they will run well! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
