I bought a LR approved L405 in March and within 50 miles I noticed a stone chip in the windscreen on the passenger side, I hadn’t noticed this on inspection prior to purchasing the vehicle. After checking the vehicle service history of could find no record of the brake fluid having been changed, on contacting the LR dealer they said bring the car back and we will replace the screen and change the brake fluid, during the journey to return the car I found the air con not to be working, I told them on arrival and told me it would be fixed, it was. These things should have been picked up on the “165 point” check in the first place but fair play to the LR dealer the faults were rectified with no quibble. The car has now developed a small vibration (4 months after purchase) under braking and offside front disc is corroded around the circumference about 25mm down the disc, again no quibble from the dealer on replacing front discs and pads FOC. I have no doubt different dealers offer different levels of customer service, I can’t complain about mine now I have found the correct people within the organisation to speak to instead of speaking to someone who has no idea what they are talking about and tells you to “ring Land Rover assistance “ or “we don’t do investigative work on a Saturday” |

As above, walk away. Why would you put yourself in that situation and give them your money. Be the sensible buyer and find another car at another dealer, but let them know why. Don't get sucked in.

Is there any chance that you could re-post the 165 point check in a less compressed form please Baltic Blue? |

If you PM me an email I will send it to you as a PDF, but it will have to be tonight or tomorrow, because I am going away for 4 weeks early Monday morning.

Based on some approved cars I have looked at they have absolutely not had the check, they get washed and hoovered and bunged on the forecourt, certainly appears that way |

I suspect that the check doesnt get done until the car is sold! Dealers rely on basic checks when they buy the cars in and use the 165 point check as a selling point and a way of ‘PDIing’ the cars. I’ve looked at the one in the Wiki section of this site and can see it’s been ‘done’ by the ticks - must’ve been a perfect car as nothing whatsoever needed any attention |
