Coding advice/help for Westie

Hi,

I've just bought a '62 Westminster (now my third RR) and from what I've read online it's possible to code the daytime running lights on (without using the light switch) and activate a digital MPH speedo (that appears inside the cluster).

So two questions;

1) am I right about the above?

2) Is there anyone with the right kit on the forum who's not too far from West/North London who could do the coding for me, for some cash? Don't really want to pay £400 for a GAP just for these two jobs.

Thanks lads!

Yes to both your questions re the running lights and speed readout. Just my opinion but the IID TOOL is worth every penny and is a very handy piece of kit to carry in the RR. 2015 4.4 AB

the fairy drl lights are a waste of time as they arnt very bright but the digital mph is handy ..

as said by alistair ,the iidtool is a worth while purchase and only a 'pro' version will do what you ask, the normal iidtool is vin locked...

I like the fairy lights. Think they look good.

But how effective they are is another question. What do I put here then?

Thanks for the replies so far.

What brand is best if I bought one? Is it the GAP from Duckworths?

Also, is there a how-to somewhere so I don’t totally Censored the car by mistake? I had a similar thing for my old V8 M3, but the app it came with made it dead easy to use.

Yep, I have my main beams switched on as DRL's and a digital speed readout, both courtesy of the IID tool.

Dan's the man for the IID tool.

The IID TOOL can store the 'original ' settings in case of user errors !! It can also store original engine map if you get yours remapped. Great bit of kit. Re the DRLs , the fairy lights look well but not much use during a bright day. 2015 4.4 AB

What’s Dan’s forum name?

Cheers!

The fairy lights don't appear bright when out in the sun but place your car in a country lane in the autumn and they may make the difference between someone spotting you or not! Thumbs Up

And think about the IID as a sanity saver! Meaning, the day your 300 miles from home and you get a stupid bong of death! At least you may be able to reset a fault and get yourself home! Thats worth the purchase price alone imho... Thumbs Up

Ok I think I’ve worked out Dan is from Duckworths.

Is there an online guide or something to use it?

Go to GAP. DIAGNOSTICS for their online guide and read up on here what members have done too. Cheers

I saw a Sport the other night with just his fairy lights on (didn't realise they had them). It was almost invisible in the dark.

Not sure how he had done it as the rear lights were on (well, most of them) but no headlights, although given the general state of the car and the way it was being driven, it's entirely possible both headlights had blown. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

Good info on this forum - just dig Smile

And Patrick at GAP is extremely helpful - and friendly.

But one from Dan and enjoy being able to change the configuration of your FF.

Plus have the peace of mind should you ever get the dreaded 'bong'. What do I put here then?
