Shark Fin Aerial Retrofit

Just installing a new android head unit with dab+. Have read much that a glass mounted dab+ aerial is a waste of time due to heated screen, so curious if anyone has had the balls to drill a hole in the roof and mount externally??? Would like to fit a shark fin at the back if possible but has anyone else done this yet?

I've got a dab antenna mounted on the rear, left windscreen (trunk). Excellent reception. Much better than my previous car with antenna in the front windscreen. 2007 L322 3.6 TDV8 Stornoway

so you went with the glass mounted one also? mounted in the rear window?
