Sorry chaps thought they had a blind type shelf for some reason...... looking at Alistairs post again it’s blindingly obvious. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I've had my 405 for 6 months now although 2 of those months cumulatively it was with the dealership/bodyshop. It's a 4.4V8 and it suffered the same issue as Red Merle regarding the oil leak and replacement turbo/loom etc. It only took a week when my yellow engine light came up to get it sorted but thats history now. I had a D3 for 8 years and a D4 for 4 years prior so had good experience of the V6 in both 2.7 sgl turbo and 3.0 twin turbo guises and found both extremely good engines. I didn't suffer any problems with either and found them to pull like steam trains up through the Alps with 2 tonnes plus of caravan nailed on the back. Having said all that, the V8 is something else entirely when it comes to low down grunt. I have dragged my current 2.5 tonne caravan up, around and sometimes through some pretty twisty up and down stuff (Bellagio!!!) and had no issues at all with power when needed, neither did I with the V6's tbh, but the V8 does it without breaking a sweat. It just does it and solo goes like stink for an oil burner. I love it. I don't have much experience of the 322 but when I initially test drove one I found it to be very smooth and extremely comfortable. I wasn't taken by the interior of the 322 given the myriad of switches but that's a personal taste thing and entirely subjective. I think if you have to think about changing from a 322 to a 405 it has to warrant it, I'm not so sure you can justify the huge difference in cost but who's trying to? It's a Range Rover, how can you justify anything to do with price? |
