further checking by my mechanic this morning actually showed it to be a bulb 'on the way out' - not ballast as first thought

i left it all in the hands of my mechanic ![]() i was perhaps presumptuous when i initially said it was the ballast? i got the OEM bulbs because they were such a good price compared with what main stealers charge ![]() even andrew page wanted £53 + VAT each for non OEM also they were available to be collected/fitted this morning what was very noticeable was side by side how much brighter a new bulb was compared with the existing one |

i have read that hid bulbs do indeed loose their brightness after a while and they go pinky colour shortly before they fail...how much did you pay and where did you get the bulbs from nick... ... - .- -.

Interesting post Nick - On my way home this evening (after a very boring film at the flicks) I noticed my drivers side headlight flicker and then went out - Just left with side light. I turned them off and on again at some T LIghts and it came back on. It did it again just as I turned into my drive.

My drivers side light flickered then went off when I first bought my car a year back, it did it 4 or 5 times in a row, but then came back on and has been fine since. Could it be a loose connection somewhere? 2006 Mercedes CLS

Is there a special process to remove the bulbs to swap them over. I read somewhere not to play with these as they can push out 25,000 volts or something.

no special way , just make sure they aren't switched on when you change them. |
